Dr. Denia Tapscott is a specialist in Bariatric Medicine. She is board certified in Internal Medicine and is a member of the American Society of Bariatric Physicians. Through this organization, Dr. Tapscott attends national conferences and seminars where experts gather to discuss the latest techniques and break-through medications for weight loss.

Dr. Tapscott is a native Washingtonian who graduated from Wilson Senior High School and went on to attend the University of Virginia.She received her medical training here at Georgetown University and completed her residency in Internal Medicine at the University of Texas , Houston .

Prior to her current position, she founded Personal Touch, PLLC, a medical weight loss program at Providence Hospital, where she also served as the Assistant Director of their Bariatric Surgery Center.

Dr.Tapscott has recently accepted a position as Assistant Professor of Medicine, Howard University College of Medicine. In addition to this role, she will serve as the Director of Howard’s Medical Weight Loss Program and Program Director of the Center for Wellness and Weight Loss Surgery.

In this capacity, she will be a part of a team of doctors and staff dedicated to helping patients lose weight and keep it off. The Center provides both medical weight loss as well as surgical options with Dr. Terrence Fullum.
